A. LÝ THUYẾT

I. Phân biệt "Tiền tố" (Prefix) và "Hình thức kết hợp" (Combining form)

Trước khi học về tiền tố, chúng ta cần phân biệt hai khái niệm là “tiền tố” (Prefix) và hình thức kết hợp (combining form)

  • Tiền tố:
    • Tiền tố là một chữ cái hoặc một nhóm chữ cái kết hợp với nhau xuất hiện ở đầu từ
    • Một từ có thể được thêm tiền tố hoặc không (tiền tố không bắt buộc phải xuất hiện để từ có nghĩa)
    • Có thể loại bỏ khỏi từ gốc, thậm chí nghĩa thay đổi.

 Ví dụ:

Inconvenience: Sự không thuận tiện (Từ gốc: convenience – thuận tiện)

  • Hình thức kết hợp:
    • Xuất hiện ở đầu từ giống tiền tố
    • Là bản chất của từ, nghĩa của nó là một phần nghĩa của từ và không thể bị tách ra khỏi từ
    • Chúng thay đổi hình thức chính tả và hình thái của mình để phù hợp với từ mà chúng được gắn vào

II. Cách sử dụng Tiền tố (Prefix):

  • Cách sử dụng tiền tố: thêm vào phía đằng trước từ
  • Mỗi tiền tố lại có một ý nghĩa khác nhau, và khi được thêm vào trước một từ nó có thể thay đổi nghĩa của từ đó.
